For Consumers

Got a notice from us? Here's what it means.

Hearing from a collector can be stressful. It doesn't have to be. This is a plain-English walkthrough of why you're hearing from CollFin, what happens next, and the options you have — no pressure.

The short version

Why you're hearing from us

A business you owe a balance to — often a healthcare provider — has asked CollFin to help resolve it. We're a licensed collector, and our job is to work it out with you fairly.

1

Placement

The original creditor places the account with CollFin. You get a written notice with the amount and who it's for.

2

Validation window

You have time to ask us to verify the debt or dispute it. If you do, we pause activity while we look into it.

3

Resolution

Most balances are resolved by paying in full, setting up a plan, or agreeing on a settlement — whatever fits.

4

Closed out

Once resolved, the account is closed and reported accurately. Every step is documented.

You have protections

The law is on your side too

Federal rules limit when and how we can contact you, require us to verify debts on request, and prohibit harassment. We build those rules into everything we do.

Know your rights

This is a communication from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt, and any information obtained will be used for that purpose. This page is general information, not legal advice.
